Troubleshooting and Debug Logs

ShutterPress Gallery Pro includes system checks and a downloadable debug log to help investigate problems with galleries, purchasing, watermarks, PDFs, and ZIP downloads.

Check your system

Go to ShutterPress → Settings → System Settings.

Review the server checks for missing components or resource limits. For example, ZIP generation requires ZipArchive, and watermarking requires the selected image-processing engine.

If a required component is unavailable, ask your hosting provider to check it.

Record a problem

  1. Go to ShutterPress → Settings → General.
  2. Turn on Enable Debugging and save.
  3. Return to the affected gallery or settings screen.
  4. Repeat the action that causes the problem.
  5. Note the time, gallery, action, and any error message.

For access or purchasing problems, reproduce the issue using the same type of account as the affected customer. Administrator access can produce different results.

Download the debug log

  1. Go to ShutterPress → Settings → System Settings.
  2. Find Debug Log.
  3. Click Download ShutterPress Log.

The downloaded file is named shutterpress-debug.log. You must have permission to manage WordPress settings to download it.

If the button is disabled and shows No readable ShutterPress debug log was found, enable debugging, repeat the problem, and reload System Settings. If it remains unavailable, ask your host to check whether WordPress can create and read the log.

Turn debugging off

After collecting the log, return to General settings, disable Enable Debugging, and save.

Debugging can create a large file during normal site use. Turning it off stops further logging; it does not delete the existing file.

What to send to support

Include:

  • A description of the problem and the steps to reproduce it.
  • What you expected and what happened.
  • Your ShutterPress version.
  • The affected gallery URL or ID.
  • The approximate time of the problem.
  • The relevant error message and debug log.

Logs can contain email addresses, message content, gallery details, and other private information. Share them privately with support.

If the problem continues

Buttons do not respond: Note the browser and device, check for visible errors, and collect a log while repeating the action.

ZIP, watermark, or PDF creation fails: Review System Settings for missing components or processing limits.

License activation fails: Record the exact message. A connection failure does not necessarily mean the license key is invalid.

No useful log entry appears: The problem may occur before ShutterPress can record it. Include screenshots and ask your host to check the server’s PHP error log.
