ShutterPress Gallery Pro provides download links for images purchased through your galleries. You can include links in customer order emails, while registered customers can also access purchases through their WooCommerce account.
Downloads are available when the order is Processing or Completed.
Enable email download links
- Go to ShutterPress → Settings → WooCommerce.
- Enable Email Download Links.
- Set Max Downloads and Download Expiry Time (Hours).
- Save your settings.
ShutterPress adds a Download link beneath each eligible image purchase in customer processing-order, completed-order, and invoice emails.
The product must have both Downloadable and ShutterPress Gallery Product enabled, and the order item must be linked to a gallery image.
Set email link limits
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Max Downloads | How many downloads an email link allows for each purchased image item. Set to 0 for unlimited downloads. |
| Download Expiry Time (Hours) | How long the email link remains valid after it is first generated. Set to 0 for no expiry. |
The defaults are unlimited downloads and a 24-hour expiry.
Limits are stored when a link is generated. Changing these settings does not automatically update existing links. Resending an order email also does not reset an existing link’s limits.
Email links work without signing in. Anyone holding a valid link can use it within its limits, so treat these links as private.
Downloads in customer accounts
For orders associated with a customer account, ShutterPress adds a Photo Downloads table under My Account → Downloads.
Each available image purchase shows:
- An image preview.
- The product name, filename, and image size.
- A link to the order.
- A Download button.
Customers must sign in to the account that owns the order. Guest orders do not automatically appear in an account’s download list.
The email link’s download count and expiry settings do not apply to these account downloads.
Restore access to an email link
If a customer reaches the download limit or their link expires:
- Open their order under WooCommerce → Orders.
- In Order actions, choose Regenerate download permissions and run the action.
- Then choose Send order details to customer and run that action to email the download links. Email Download Links must be enabled in your ShutterPress WooCommerce settings.
Regenerating permissions resets the download count for all eligible purchased image links in the order and starts a new expiry period using your current settings.
Existing links are renewed where their records still exist. If an expired link’s record has already been removed by automatic cleanup, ShutterPress creates a replacement, so the customer should use the newly sent email.
The order must still be Processing or Completed for downloads to work.
Which image size is delivered?
Purchased downloads use the size recorded on the order item at checkout. Changing the product’s download size afterwards does not replace the size already recorded on an existing order.
See Digital Product Download Sizes for setup instructions.
Troubleshooting
No link in the email: Check that Email Download Links is enabled, that the product is marked Downloadable and ShutterPress Gallery Product, and that you are viewing a supported customer email.
Order is not ready for downloads: Check the payment and order status. Downloads require Processing or Completed status.
Link has expired or reached its limit: Regenerate download permissions, then resend the customer email.
Purchased image is missing: Check that the image and downloadable product still exist. Removing them can prevent access to earlier purchases.
