Client proofing in ShutterPress Gallery Pro lets your client mark gallery images as Yes, Maybe, or No, then submit their final choices. You can set a required number of chosen images, review the results in WordPress, and export the selections.
Before you start
You need an active installation of ShutterPress Gallery Pro, a gallery containing images, and a WordPress user account for your client. This guide covers version 1.6.4, which requires WordPress 6.5 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.
Each gallery has one assigned Proofing User. The client must log in to that account to make selections. Knowing the gallery password alone does not enable proofing.
Enable proofing for a gallery
- Go to ShutterPress Gallery → All Galleries and open the gallery for editing.
- Find the Proofing panel.
- Turn on Gallery Proofing.
- Choose your client’s WordPress account in Proofing User.
- Set Number of Selections as described below.
- If you want the client to receive a confirmation after submitting, select a User confirmation email template.
- Click Update, or Publish if this is a new gallery.
Set the number of chosen images
Number of Selections controls the number of images the client can mark Yes.
- Enter a number greater than zero to require that number of Yes choices. The client cannot add more Yes choices than this number and cannot submit with fewer.
- Set it to 0 to leave the number of Yes choices unrestricted.
- Maybe and No choices do not count towards this number.
For example, enter 10 if the client needs to choose ten images. They can use Maybe to shortlist images, but must mark ten images Yes before submitting. To replace a chosen image once the limit is reached, they can use Remove choice on an existing Yes image or change its status to Maybe or No first.
Give the client access
Send the client the gallery link and make sure they can log in to their WordPress account.
Proofing assignment and gallery access are configured separately. If you restrict the gallery through Access Control → Logged in User Access, include the assigned Proofing User in that list. If you also set a gallery password, provide that password to the client.
For access settings, see Password Protection.
Choose a confirmation email template
Create and publish a template under ShutterPress Gallery → Email Templates, then select it in the gallery’s User confirmation email template field and update the gallery.
Useful placeholders for the template body include:
| Placeholder | Content |
|---|---|
{{first_name}} | Client’s first name |
{{gallery_name}} | Gallery title |
{{gallery_link}} | Link to the gallery |
{{submitted_at}} | Submission date and time |
{{proofing_message}} | Message supplied when submitting |
{{proofing_choices}} | Recorded image choices, including their statuses |
The template title supplies the confirmation email subject. If no confirmation template is selected, ShutterPress does not send the client a proofing confirmation email.
A separate submission notification is sent to the site’s WordPress administration email address. Selecting a client confirmation template is not required for that notification.
Check the client experience
Open the gallery while logged in as the assigned Proofing User. An administrator using a different account will not see the client’s proofing controls simply because they are an administrator.
Before sharing a gallery, check the assignment, access settings, selection count, and confirmation template.
